At Round Lake Forge we specialize in custom. Most companies want to sell you what they want you to have. At round Lake Forge we want you, the customer, to get exactly what you want, and at a fair competitive price. Whether your project is new construction, working on upgrading your home, or just having some custom plant hangers made, we are here to turn your vision into reality. We are experienced with welding steel up to 2" thick, stainless steel from large SCH-40 pipe to 22 gauge sheet, cast iron, and aluminum as small as 1/32" thick. In addition finished welded parts can be heat treated in house to relieve internal stresses.
Our in house blacksmith is highly skilled at forging custom pieces, small, large, intricate, and simple. The forge that he operates can accommodate metal up to 4" diameter and 18" long, and can section heat and forge pieces up to 16' long. We are equipped with an 88 lbs pneumatic forging hammer, and a 36 ton hydraulic forging press, in addition to hand forging pieces to any shape you want.
Our in-house machine shop consists of two 3-axis milling machines, capable of machining parts up to 16" x 32" x 12", a lathe that can turn parts up to 6" in diameter and parts up to 32" long, industrial band saws that can cut steel beams with a cross section of 16" x 12", and a CNC plasma table which can cut sheets of steel up to 4' x 8' and 3/8" thick. In the event that you require larger parts to be machined we regularly partner up with local precision machine shops which are capable of machining parts weighing several thousand pounds.
Parts can be finished in a variety of ways. In house we can prime and paint parts with industrial enamel based rust inhibiting paint, hot and chemical blue parts, wire brush, and polish parts to a mirror finish. We also partner with a local powder coating company that can accommodate parts up to 18' long by 6' wide and 6' tall.
We have a seasoned mechanical engineer who regularly does engineering design for residential and commercial buildings. He is skilled in mechanical HVAC design, structural design for construction, building envelope heat loading, hydraulic design, and more.
